PROBLEMS FACED BY TURMERIC FARMERS, NOWADAYS:
There has been a Huge Shortage of Manpower for Farming Works .
The Cost of Labour per Day is Huge and Un affordable.
Even Then We need to constantly Supervise them, ane their Efficiency is Only 50%.
The cost of Ploughing, Bund / Ridge Creation , applying Fertilizer before placing Seeds are too High.
Watering once a while , Engaging a person, as he has to divert the water from Bund/Ridge to another Ridge also labourious Will incur Labour costs.
Weeding has to be done 2 - 3 times and that becomes More Expensive, as the cost of Labour is High.
Cost of Fertilzers and Pesticide also is on the Higher Side.
Labour and the Money involved in Harvesting is also on the higher side and some Rhizhomes
are Left under the Ground, as the harvest is done Manually..
The Fertilizer applied on the entire field are not fully taken and absorved by the Plants.
Plants could take only 10% of the water, in the total Quantity of water let inside the filed, resulting
in lots of water being wasted .
We observe that on an average, Farmers have to spend any where between
Rs.1,10,000/- to Rs.1,20,000/- per Yield, per Acre, which is a Huge intial Investment Nowdays.
The Selling Price of Turmeric is not in the Hands of the Farmers, as it is
Dictated by the Market Always.
